Autonomous Construction [AC] is a multi-focus design practice based in LA & Mexico City.  [AC] explores built, written, and temporal projects through a continuous loop of research, conceptual work and fabrication.
[AC] takes on projects that range from commissions to self-initiated projects, and extends across the realms of archival research, site specific furniture, interiors, and temporal spaces. 

Current research includes The Taxonomy of Unscripted Living, a live, open-source platform driven by public photo submissions of informality in Mexico. Its long-term goal is to become a self-sustaining archive, continuously documenting typologies and extending its scope beyond Mexico to include underrepresented regions of the  world. Beyond the Taxonomy, other archival projects developed alongside external collaborators include, The Monobloc Archive and Archivo Latino, an offshoot inspired by the original Taxonomy photo archive.

Andrea Sánchez Moctezuma is a Mexico City-born architectural designer and the co-founder of [AC], established in 2020. She earned her Master’s in Architecture from Yale University, receiving the Gene Lewis Book Prize for Excellence in Residential Architecture. Andrea also holds a B.Arch with distinction from SCI-Arc, where her work was awarded the Thesis Merit Prize. Her professional background includes experience at AZPML in London, alongside Los Angeles studios Oyler Wu, HLW, and GEA. Andrea is currently based between LA and CDMX.
